Welcome to the second blog post in our interview series. I am happy to introduce another member of the Infinity team, Erik Sjoblom.

Meet Erik, a capable and graceful man. He is the fearless leader of our front-end team. He leads by example. He listens more than he speaks. His words have weight. Let's see what he has to say.

Name, Company, Title, City

Erik Sjoblom, Infinity Interactive, Team Lead/Senior Developer, Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

When did you first work with Infinity?

I first started working part-time with Infinity back in December 2008. I have been full-time since July 2010.

What are six words you think of when you think of Infinity?

professional, capable, adaptable, innovative, interesting, reliable

What is your favorite mode of transportation and why?

If I'm traveling somewhere for fun, I really enjoy driving. I like being able to choose the route, set the pace, and change my plans at any time.

What technology do you (realistically) look forward to arriving in the next 5 years? What if it didn’t have to be realistic?

Although not necessarily a completely new technology, in the next five years I'm very excited for the breakthroughs that will inevitably be made in wireless connectivity and battery longevity. These advances will make it easier than ever to travel and work remotely.

As far as unrealistic technologies, I find teleportation fascinating. Although it would likely create all kinds of problems, being able to beam in and out of anywhere instantaneously would be amazing.

How do you recharge?

To recharge I like to disconnect, either by getting out into the woods for a hike, or meeting up with friends and family. I really enjoy traveling, and find it energizing to get out for a trip.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

Time travel. I just find the idea of it very interesting, to be a time tourist and be able to see things we've only imagined, prehistoric times or the future. It could accidentally lead to erasing everything as it currently exists, so the idea of it is probably more interesting than what the reality of it would be.

What would a perfect day look like for you?

Sunny, not too hot, a light breeze, and kayaking down a river.

If you could know the answer to any question, besides “what is the meaning of life?”, what would it be?

How long until we evolve beyond our current form? It's mind-boggling to think about evolution. We've been in our current form for about 50,000 years, and we've definitely evolved quite a bit from where we were three million years ago. Considering the earth is about five billion years old, and that animals have only existed for only 500 million years, 50,000 years is not all that long. At an average of 50 years, that's only 1,000 lifetimes. I wonder how rapidly we'll continue to change, and how long it will be until there is another major step in our evolution.
